Appointed in July 2021, Rev. Yvonne Coon currently serves as the Senior Pastor of FUMC Hurst. Prior to serving at FUMC Hurst, Yvonne served in multiple roles at First UMC-Georgetown prior to being appointed as Senior Pastor in 2018.
Prior to entering ministry, Yvonne served as a Major Account Executive with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management/Marketing). She earned her Master of Divinity at Brite Divinity School (Texas Christian University) in 2008. Yvonne served part-time at Keller UMC while attending seminary. She received her first full-time appointment in 2007 to Crossroads UMC (Haslet; now LifePoint UMC) and served there until she was appointed to FUMC-Georgetown.
Yvonne currently serves on the Wesleyan Homes Board of Trustees, the Georgetown ISD Equity Design Team, the Central Texas Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and the Central Texas Conference Core Leadership Team. She is a former member of the South District Committee on Ordained Ministry and has served as a mentor to candidates for ordained ministry.
A lifelong Methodist, Yvonne gratefully credits her parents for their role in creating the foundation for her Christian faith. Her father, Fred Coon, served as a certified lay speaker for many years while her mother, Hazel, organized and led several outreach ministries through FUMC of Victoria (TX). Yvonne is the proud mother of two adult children, Josh, and his wife, Jessi; and Nate. She also delights in being “Mimi” to her precious grandson, Jameson. Yes, I would love to show you pictures!
