Chancel Choir sings at the 11 a.m. service every Sunday, This choir is open to anyone who enjoys singing music of a wide variety of styles. No audition is required. Patricia Neighbors is the conductor of this choir and Debby Barkey serves as accompanist. Rehearsals take place Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. Childcare is available through online registration.
Chancel Choir offers a series of concerts throughout the year. Events such as Festival of Carols have become community favorites over the last few years.
The choir also presents a choral service for Good Friday, where they have performed Requiems by such composers as Brahms, Mozart, Durufle and Faure. Other major choral works include Requiem by Mark Hayes, Requiem for the Living by Dan Forrest and Seven Last Words by Michael John Trotta and Vivaldi Gloria. These concerts are free of charge, and child care is available for most events.
ANTHEMS FOR AUTUMN
For several years the Chancel Choir has invited a prominent choral composer to spend the weekend with the choir. The choir has an opportunity to meet and rehearse with the composer, and present a concert of their music. Visiting composers include Dan Forrest, Howard Helvey, Z. Randall Stroope, Mark Hayes and Elaine Rentz.
