United Women in Faith (UWF) is a faith-based organization that seeks to improve the lives of women, children, and youth through compassionate service and advocacy. They are driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood to tackle the hard work of the world without hesitation. They connect spiritual women to act boldly for justice and transform communities. The organization has nearly half a million members and advocates for peace and justice, economic inequality, education, the rights of children, human rights, and farm workers’ rights. You can visit their official website at https://uwfaith.org/.

(Please note that United Women in Faith was formerly known as United Methodist Women.)

The United Women of Faith at First United Methodist Church of Hurst host a number of events.

  • We have a general meeting the first Tuesday of the month in Wesley 105/106.
All meetings are at 9:30 a.m. except for the months of September and May which are salad suppers at 6 p.m.  Everyone is invited!
  • The second Tuesday of the month is what we call our Circle Meetings.
Typically this is where we do our studies and sometimes our social action activities.
The Day Circle meets at 9:30 a.m. in room Wesley 120. The evening circle, called Tri Circle, meets at 6 p.m. in Wesley 124.
Anyone is invited to these meetings as well.
  • On the third Thursday of the month we do "Lunch Bunch."  We decide on a local restaurant and we meet for lunch at noon (except September and May, when we meet in the evening at 6:00 p.m.)  One of our members will do a book review of one of the titles from our reading program and we will have fun and fellowship.

We are happy to provide rides for evening events.  There are many of our members who do not feel comfortable driving after dark.  We don't want anyone to be left out because of that. Please contact Kathleen Gilbert at the information below so we can make sure you  have transportation to evening events.

For anyone who has been curious about UWF and wants to get to know us better, please contact Kathleen Gilbert at or 817-781-1374.
