Stephen Ministers are called by Christ to walk with those people who are challenged by life's changes.

Core Values:

  • Faithfully bear one another's burdens through presence, prayer and listening.
  • Prayerfully prepare God's people for this caring, lay ministry.
  • Provide a confidential, healing refuge for all in need.

It Was Such a Burden Off My Shoulders

First United Methodist Church of Hurst is one of more than 13,000 congregations from more than 180 Christian denominations that now have Stephen Ministry. Over 600,000 people have been trained as Stephen Ministers, a number that grows by tens of thousands each year. Ever Thought about Becoming a Stephen Minister?

FUMC Hurst has trained over 100 members as Stephen Ministers since launching here at our church in 1994. Next year we will be celebrating 30 years of ministry!

First United Methodist Church of Hurst will be training a new class of Stephen Ministers beginning in January 2024.  Upon completion of 50 hours of training, these individuals will be commissioned as Stephen Ministers. They will then join our other active Stephen Ministers at FUMC Hurst in providing one-on-one high quality pastoral care. If you think you might be interested in joining this exciting ministry, please reach out to Kit Hickerson at . You may also contact her through the church office: 817-282-7384.

In addition, if you or someone you know is struggling and could benefit from a caring Stephen Ministry relationship, please contact Kit Hickerson at the information noted above.
