Adult Sunday Morning Groups & Classes

Groups are listed alphabetically. Groups for those who primarily speak French or Spanish follow the alphabetical listing.

Agape (W 206)     Age: 65+

Members enjoy discussions focused on Bible study and Christian living in today’s world. Members serve at Mission Central, Christmas Providers and annually sponsor a college student. They enjoy an annual Christmas party, a Super Bowl party and occasionally luncheons after class. Average attendance is 15+.


Anchors (Parlor / I 103) Age: 30s & 40s

“Hope anchors my soul” is this group’s motto. Members rotate teaching or invite a guest speaker to teach a Bible-based lesson. They also sometimes attend Focus On group studies or combine with the Journey class to do a book study. Socials include brunches, a Christmas party, and a class birthday party. They also sometimes bring and share food during Sunday school. Various members teach children’s Sunday school, are members of chancel choir and participate in Caring Christian Mothers. Average attendance is 20+.


Christian Homebuilders (W 121)     Age: 80+

Before a lesson from the International Lesson Series, members begin class with a song. Socials include a monthly ladies’ day out and annual Christmas party. Members serve at Mission Central, CareCorps and Meals on Wheels.
Average attendance is 30+.


Discovery (W 203)     Age: 30s–50s

Members begin class with an uplifting Bible verse. They alternate between current event studies, which other classes are invited to join, and the International Lesson Series. This group volunteers once a month at Mission Central and they help with Thanksgiving baskets. Socials include Whirlyball outings, an annual Christmas party, gatherings with and without members’ children, and an Easter fellowship. Average attendance is 24.


Friendship (W 210)     Age: 50s & 60s

Members rotate facilitating discussions about current events or social justice issues. Many are involved in service and outreach projects that serve the church’s ministries. Average attendance is 24.


Genesis (W 208)     Age: 60+

Discussions focus on how to apply Biblical principles, whether from inspirational books, videos or the Bible itself, to members’ daily lives. Sometimes members attend Focus On discussions. Socials include ladies’ monthly luncheons and a Christmas party. Average attendance is 40+.


Goal Diggers (W 105)     Age: 65+

This large group enjoys all kinds of studies, inspirational books or Bible lessons, which vary month to month. They are heavily committed to community service. Also, they host social events throughout the year. Average attendance is 40.


Harmony (W 122)     Age: 65+

Members rotate facilitating Bible study guide-based discussions and incorporate a lot of prayer into class. Some serve at the Connect Desk and others teach children’s Sunday school. They also host socials such as a Christmas luncheon.
Average attendance is 18.


Journey (I 203) Age: 20s & 30s

Discussions focus on a broad range of topics including current events, life stages, and biblical studies. Members often teach/shepherd children’s Sunday school classes. Occasionally they participate in monthly Focus On discussions. This group also enjoys monthly lunches and quarterly social events. Average attendance is 12.


Legacy (W 204)     Age: 30s & 40s

Lessons range from Biblical studies to current global issues. Socials include a summer pool party, Christmas party, Super Bowl party and monthly luncheon. Some members serve in the children’s Sunday school ministry. Average attendance is 8.


Open Door/New Beginnings (W 207)
Age: 40s–60s

Discussions focus on how to apply biblical principles to members’ daily lives. Members also sometimes attend Focus On Sunday discussions. They are involved in ministries such as Christmas Providers, local elementary schools’ Christmas shopping sprees and quarterly serve at Room at the Inn. Their socials include an annual Christmas party and a monthly luncheon. Average attendance is 20+.


Point of Grace (W 205)     All Ages — Women

Single, widowed, divorced or unaccompanied women comprise this group. Each member leads a Bible or inspirational book study for a 4-week stretch or the group invites a guest speaker. Their social events include weekly mahjong and lunch on the second Sunday of the month. Some missions in which they serve are Room at the Inn, Christmas Providers, Mission Central, Village Garden, Coat of Many Colors, and filling
or distributing Thanksgiving bags.  Average attendance is 18.


Questers (W 209)     Age: 70+

Members begin class by singing from monogrammed hymnals with piano accompaniment. Lessons follow the International Lesson Series. Class members travel together and enjoy social events such as dinner together. They serve in Christmas Providers and sometimes visit the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco. Average attendance is 34.


Scripture Seekers (I 101) Age: 60s

Members rotate facilitating the International Lesson Series while adhering to the motto: “Grow together.” Some of the class serve at Village Pantry, minister through Bible distribution, serve within the church as ushers or greeters or as part of the coffee service in the Fellowship Hall.
Average attendance is 12.


Searching Together (W 104)     Age: 72+

Members utilize the International Lesson Series and many sing in the chancel choir. They also hold quarterly social events and serve in missions such as Mobile Food Pantry, summer youth mission trips, Vacation Bible School, Christmas Providers and Adopt-a-School, just to name a few. Average attendance is 25.


Single Friends (W 123)     Age: 50s—80s

Class members enjoy a variety of Bible-based topics or participate in Focus On discussions. Socials include monthly luncheons or dinners, movie theater outings, or game night. Some members serve as greeters, ushers, or choir members. Average attendance is 15+.


Trending Topics (W 103)     All Ages
Do you see trending topics on social media and wonder how they relate to your faith? Every Sunday morning, this group will explore various topics that are trending on social media. There is a new topic each month and no advanced preparation is required to join the discussion (although we might check out some podcasts, Ted Talks, documentaries, etc.)


Wesley 124 (W 124) All Ages

This “drop-in” group offers participants studies on various topics which can last anywhere from 2-8 weeks. Visit the Connect Desk for information about current offerings.


French Speakers

Nouvelle Vie (W 202)     All Ages
Meets 1st and 2nd Sundays of each month.

This French-speaking Bible study is composed of African immigrants. This group also provides support to African immigrants through social interaction, family education and home visits. Average attendance is 10.

Nouvelle Vie se réunit les 3ème, 4ème et 5ème dimanche du mois

Cette étude biblique francophone est composée d’immigrants africains. Ce groupe fournit également un soutien aux immigrants africains par le biais d’interactions sociales, d’éducation familiale et de visites à domicile. Participation moyenne: 10


Spanish Speakers

Compañeros en Cristo (C 114) All Ages

Members rotate facilitating bilingual (Spanish) quarterly Bible studies. Everyone, from native Spanish speakers to those learning Spanish, is welcome. Prayer and singing with keyboard accompaniment are incorporated into class time. They occasionally host potlucks and annual Las Posadas festivities; the latter are followed by a bilingual worship service. Average attendance is 7.

Miembros se rotan facilitando estudios bilingües trimestrales. Todo el mundo, de hispanohablantes nativos hasta los que están aprendiendo español, es bienvenido. Se incorpora oración y cantando con acompañamiento de teclado en esta clase. De vez en cuando tienen cenas compartidas y fiestas anuales de Las Posadas.
