Welcome Matt Rodgers
The Staff Parish Relations Committee recently announced that Matt Rodgers will be our new Director of Youth Discipleship and we look forward to welcoming him to FUMC! Matt grew up in Olney, Texas and has an education degree from Midwestern State. He started his professional life as a Licensed Day Care Director before realizing a call to youth ministry. He has most recently served as the Youth Director at China Spring UMC near Waco. Matt has a gift for building relationships with students and helping to empower them to lead - and he likes to have fun! Several students, parents, and adult leaders, met with Matt and were excited to hear about his passions with regards to building solid relationships with students, both local and distant missions, empowering students to lead, and to just have fun. He, his wife Claire, and their daughter look forward to welcoming a new baby into their family in August and, as Matt shared with us, they are looking for a church home for their family to grow together in addition to a place to work. We can’t wait to welcome them into our community!
Matt will begin on June 15 and we will welcome him in worship on June 20th. The youth will have a fun evening to welcome and get to know him on Sunday, June 27th.
