Dr. Minjung Nam

Organist

Minjung Nam, the first place winner of the Strader Organ Competition, has been trained with broad musical education and performance in South Korea and the United States.

She holds her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in organ performance from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, having attended on full scholarship.

She studied organ with Dr. Roberta Gary who is well known as an expert in Baroque organ music interpretation and author of "What every pianist needs to know about the body" and harpsichord with Prof. Edward Parmentier who is an internationally renowned early keyboard music performer.

Originally from South Korea, she received her bachelor’s degree from Chongshin University in Seoul where she served as the university chapel organist. During her undergraduate study, she was honored with full tuition academic achievement scholarship and graduated summa cum laude/valedictorian.

Dr. Nam has performed throughout North America and overseas as an active concert artist. Recently, she was invited for an organ concert at Evangelische Luisen-Kirchengemeinde in Berlin, Germany to support their fund-raising for new organ installation and for a Lenten concert in San Pedro, CA.

Since moving to Dallas, TX from Cincinnati, OH, she has performed in several AGO recitals as a member of the Dallas and Fort Worth AGO chapters and presented concerts in collaboration with numerous orchestra, choirs, and soloists as a pianist and organist. Particularly, she is also contributing to local communities by performing with the Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra, Voices of Flower Mound, Bells of Trietsch, and the Lewisville Civic Chorale.
