Project Transformation
This summer, FUMC Hurst is once again honored to host Project Transformation, a ministry that helps children grow as readers, builds relationships across our community, and invests in the next generation of young leaders.
Throughout the summer, our church has the opportunity to extend hospitality, encouragement, and hands-on support in two meaningful ways: providing lunch for interns and serving as reading volunteers with children.
Help Provide Lunch for Project Transformation Interns
Our PT interns give their summer to serving children and families, and one of the simplest ways we can care for them is by helping provide lunch. Volunteers may sign up to provide lunch for interns Monday–Thursday throughout the summer through July, excluding holidays, including Juneteenth.
This is a great opportunity for Sunday school classes, small groups, ministry teams, families, or friends to serve together.
Serve as a Reading Volunteer (MinistrySafe Certification Required)
Reading volunteers are one of the heartbeats of Project Transformation. Volunteers sit with children, listen to them read, encourage them, and help them grow in confidence.
We need 16–18 reading volunteers each day.
For the benefit of the students, it is especially helpful when volunteers are able to serve more than one day. That consistency helps children build trust and feel known. But serving multiple days is not required. Whether you can come for one day or several, your presence matters. This is a beautiful, practical way to live out our call to love our neighbors, support children, and share the gifts God has given us.
