The Day School staff receive 24 hours of annual training in early childhood education along with CPR/First Aid training. We proudly offer:
Day School students enjoy daily recess on our two playgrounds. During inclement weather the students have an indoor play area accessible for use with scooters, tricycles, balls, and more. Play generated for creativity, energy, and imagination encourages larges motor skills development.
In addition to our daily outside playtime, one day a week the students attend PE where they enjoy fun, recreational activities that are age appropriate. Organized play includes parachute play, simple exercise, games, dance and other music movements, relays and “play” motions promoting gross and fine motor skills.
Music is a wonderful way for children to express themselves. The Day School music program teaches music awareness through rhythms and patterns, listening skills, instrumentation, finger plays, singing, and musical movement. Exploring these different variations of music gives children a sense of accomplishment and helps them feel good about themselves. We have two musical performances each year involving all classes, which are shared and enjoyed with parents.
The students at the Day School attend Chapel once a week. Basic Bible stories are shared using books, puppets, music, or other storytelling techniques appropriate for preschoolers. We believe that each child is a blessing and each child is a child of God. In the classroom, children participate in Sacred Circle Time, where they spend time hearing a Bible story and engaging in prayer with their classmates.
Infants, ones, and twos—The Frog Street curriculum is used for our infants, one, and two-year olds. Designed around the latest scientific early brain development research, Frog Street Infant and Toddler curriculum is designed to build strong foundations for little ones. This child-centered program includes easy-to-use activities that optimize key windows of opportunity for growth and development, designed with intention and purpose that are organized around developmental learning domains.
Threes and Pre-K–Older students use the Get Set for School Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Using the Pre-K Readiness & Writing, Literacy, and Numbers & Math, the diverse learning styles of all children are addressed to ensure that they are learning the many social skills that prepare them for elementary school. Many other resources are used as well so that teachers are selecting activities that provide a balanced program of early childhood education.
