"to you is born this day in the city of David
a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord."
(Luke 2:11)

Robin Wilson says these words in her Advent Devotional Book, God is With Us:

"God's future for us and for the world is greater than we can ever imagine. But sometimes, the circumstances of our present make that future hard to envision. God surely created this world to be better than the world we see reported on the news: a world of war, a world of manipulation, a world of exploitation, a world of senseless violence, a world of greed and ambition. The passages during Advent allow us to see for a moment into the Reign of God. Visions of a coming King, eternal peace, unspeakable joy."

The Christmas Offering is a tangible way to be active in God's preferred future. Your gift acknowledges that there is human need and human struggle. Your gift bears witness to the fact that God envisions a better way for all of us here on earth. Your gift means that you are willing to be a part of God's better way. One hundred percent of your gift goes to help alleviate that need and struggle. The money goes to places locally like Mission Central, our ministry with the poor in our community. The money goes places like the Central Texas Conference Office as we take part in the United Methodist connection that is committed to disaster relief, combating hunger, the abolition of malaria in Africa, just to name a few. It will help us to serve students we may never meet, but who are counting on us for their future as they study at Lydia Patterson Institute, the Methodist Children's Home in Waco and on several college campuses through our Wesley Foundations. None of the money stays here at the church. The entirety of our Christmas offering is sent outside of our walls, prayed over and dedicated to relieveing human need and human struggle. Your gift will help recipients experience the truth of Advent. God has a better way.

May the gifts that we give this Christmas express our gratitude for God’s presence and love in our lives and in our world.
