The United Methodist Church is facing some challenging times. Faithful members of our worldwide community of faith have very differing views on human sexuality. The Commission on A Way Forward, representing the wide diversity of viewpoints, has concluded their work, which will be presented at a Called General Conference February 23 - 26, 2019, where the way we move forward as a denomination will be decided (see link to report below). It’s important for all of us at FUMC Hurst to know that what’s at stake is the denomination’s view of same-sex marriage and the ordination of LGBTQ persons.

As a community of faith, it is important to be informed as much as possible and to be in prayer for the global church and FUMC Hurst as well.

Attend a Living Faithfully Book Discussion

Sunday, February 17 at 4 p.m. or February 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Books will be available at Connect Desk - $12

Ways to Pray
  • Pause and pray for our church’s mission and way forward daily for four minutes from 2:23-2:26 p.m., to coincide with the dates of the conference.
  • Pray using the weekly prayer calendar posted on the UMCPrays.org.
  • Engage in a weekly 24-hour fast from Thursday after dinner to Friday mid-afternoon. You may also consider fasting from social media, emails or another daily activity.
