Dr. Michael McKee, a native of Fort Worth, graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Government. He received his Masters of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Texas Wesleyan University. He is currently chairperson of the Board of Ordained Ministry and the Mid-Cities District Committee of Ordained Ministry. Past Annual Conference responsibilities include serving as a Delegate to the 2004 and 2008 Jurisdictional Conferences, Alternate Delegate to 2004 General Conference, Delegate to 2008 General Conference, Chairperson of Camps and Assemblies Committee (during his eight years of service more than $4 million was raised for capital expenditures resulting in the construction of a new chapel, dining hall, activities center, and water park), Secretary of the Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, Trustee for Glen Lake Camp, and member of the Campus Ministry Committee of Southern Methodist University. Dr. McKee's involvement beyond the local church includes serving as a member of Executive Committee and Board of Trustees and Chairperson of the Facilities Planning Committee of Southwestern University, Georgetown; member of the Board of Trustees of Harris Methodist Health Systems; Chairperson of the Pastoral Care Committee, Harris Methodist Health Systems; Chairperson of the Executive Board and Co-Chair of Campaign Steering Committee, Perkins School of Theology; Member of the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church; Member of the Texas Methodist Foundation; Clergy Leadership Initiative Chair of John Peter Smith Hospital Access Committee. His past involvement beyond the local church includes working as Past-President of the Board of Directors of Women’s Haven of Tarrant County; He and his wife, Joan, have two daughters — Erin lives in Los Angeles and Meredith lives in Dallas. Since 1997, Mike has served as the Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church of Hurst after having served other United Methodist congregations in the Fort Worth area. During his time as the pastor, he has provided leadership for a building project that added more than 40,000 square feet of education/fellowship space. He has also brought together a talented group of staff members. Together, the staff has promoted Disciple Bible Study as a major Christian formation experience for hundreds of people in the congregation; revitalized and refocused the ministry to children, students, and their families; enhanced the music ministry; and extended the mission and outreach of the congregation. |
