The Music Ministry seeks to share one of God’s greatest gifts to humankind—the gift of music—with our congregation, community, and ultimately, the world. Music has the power to transform lives, for both the listener and performer. It is through that transformation that we find our hearts drawn closer to God and closer to one another. Our choirs are open to anyone, regardless of age or ability. The only requirement is that a person love making music to the glory of God and the church.
In addition to our many choirs, our Music Ministry offers The Hurst Series, a Fine Arts series featuring several concerts throughout the year. Events such as Festival of Carols have become community favorites over the last few years. These concerts are free of charge, and childcare is available for most events.
The Fine Arts Academy offers private music lessons and Kindermusik® classes to members of our church and community. Kindermusik classes are designed to acquaint children with the joy of music at a very early age. Private music lessons are for children and adults.
The Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church is a place to use one’s talent to the glory of God and his church. For more information regarding the Music Ministry, please contact Rev. Greg Shapley, Minister of Music & Worship.
