On February 24, 1952, when the 160 members of Isham Chapel Methodist Church moved into their new $40,000 church facilities at 129 Harmon Road, the congregation became known as Hurst First Methodist Church.   Reverend H.F. Neir, Jr. was pastor for almost eleven of the twelve years the church was at this location.  When the church started having two Sunday morning worship services to accommodate a membership that had grown to 900, the need for a larger building and another step of faith was apparent.
