For a time, the Isham Chapel School, Community School #17, also existed, with 11scholastics listed in October, 1879.  In 1884, the Isham Chapel School District No. 36 was established.  Records of the country treasurer for school funds  indicate payments in  1888-1890 to J.T. Shrive, teacher (on  December 14 and January 21, $45 each time); in 1889-1890 to Sadie Longley ($29.70 for each of four months); and in 1890-1891 to Lillie Green (for $30 and $33.50).  Beginning in August 1891, the Thomas School was established, and Isham Chapel was no longer used for school purposes other than Sunday School, which was first organized in 1890 when Reverend L.M. White was Pastor.
