Overview
Disciple is a course of Bible study designed to permit students to discover what the Bible says to them personally and act on that understanding - that is, to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ. You will NOT be told how to think, interpret the Bible, or what you should or shouldn't do. Through reading and class discussion, you will come to your own conclusions about how to interpret the Bible, what it means to you, and what you will do about your understanding.

Disciple is open to members and non-members alike. It is not a study of Methodism or any other church denomination. There are no papers or other homework to turn in, grades, or tests. You are not required to speak in class discussions, read scripture aloud, or pray publicly if you are not ready to do so.

You will covenant with your class members at the beginning of the class to be faithful in your preparation, prayers and attendance (more on attendance below).

Class Descriptions
There are four Disciple classes, described below. In each course, the first half concentrates on the Old Testament material, and the second half is devoted to the New Testament. Classes consist of approximately ten people with one or two leaders. Please see Class Schedule below for a description of class agenda.

Disciple I - Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is the foundation course - a survey of the entire Bible - and must be taken first. This class covers about 85% of the Bible, providing and understanding of what the Bible says, what it means to be a Disciple of Christ, and what the Bible means to you personally.

The remaining courses, in-depth studies of certain books, may be taken in any order following Disciple I:

Disciple II - Into the Word, Into the World: Genesis, Exodus, Luke, and Acts
Disciple III - Remember Who You Are: Old Testament prophets, especially Isaiah and Jeremiah, and the letters of Paul
Disciple IV: Writings, especially Psalms and Proverbs, the Gospel of John, and Revelations, in addition to several other books.
Jesus in the Gospels: Covers the character of Jesus as reflected in the four Gospels.
Christian Believer: Beliefs at the heart of Christianity, including God, sin, salvation, sanctification, judgement, and eternal life.
