Kindermusik®
Music Box Class for Day School Participants
Philosophy
The Day School enjoys a long history of
providing quality learning experiences for the children of the
community. The school began in 1955 as a kindergarten. Since that
time, the program has grown into a preschool that enrolls more than
two hundred children each year. As an extension of the total ministry
of the church, the Day School offers children the opportunity to learn
through play in a secure Christian environment. Emphasis is on the
physical, spiritual, emotional, social and intellectual development of
the child. Children are provided opportunities to explore, discover,
create and communicate as they participate in active learning
experiences.
Curriculum
Developmentally-appropriate curriculum for
each age group is taught by two teachers and is designed to build upon
skills learned at the previous level. Children are encouraged to
explore the world in which they live and, through a variety of
activities, pursue the development of all their basic skills—from
muscular coordination to language ability. Large motor skill
development is especially important for young children. A fenced
playground designed for preschoolers is available for all children
during their physical education time. An indoor playroom is used on
inclement weather days. Music and movement are also part of the
classroom curriculum.
To enhance spiritual development, the children
participate in a brief chapel time. The chapel service consists of a
short lesson, songs, and a prayer.
All teachers receive 15 hours of training and
continuing education in early childhood. Teachers in the Four Year Old
and Primer Classes have teaching certification.
