Pastoral Care
Attending to the
pastoral needs of the congregation is a priority for the ministers
at First Church. Hospital visits are made each weekday, and it is
our hope that members of the congregation will call the church when
they or another member of the congregation is admitted to the
hospital. Pastoral counseling is also available for those who would
like to meet with a minister to discuss faith questions or personal
concerns. Click here
for a list of phone extensions and e-mail addresses for our clergy
staff.

Stephen Ministers are
lay members who are trained in pastoral ministry. A Stephen Minister
can help you through a difficult time or crisis in your life. A
Stephen Minister promises to be a friend, to help you through
a difficult time, not to lecture or preach, not to
judge, and to maintain strict confidentiality. If you are in
need of a Stephen Minister, contact the church office at
817.282.7384. |
Caring
Friends
Caring
Friends is an important visitation ministry of our church to members
who can no longer attend church. Some members live at home but no
longer drive, while others are in retirement, assisted living, or
nursing facilities. Phone calls and greeting cards are also vital
tools of this ministry.

Support Group for Family and Friends
of Gays and Lesbians
Realizing that no two
people will hear or feel the same about the disclosure of a loved
one’s homosexuality, First Church offers a support group for
families facing this issue. The purpose of this group is to provide
a safe place within the faith community where people can confront
the issues facing family members and friends of gays and lesbians.

Grief
Support Workshop
There is a grief support workshop offered periodically
for those who grieve or have suffered loss of some kind. Look for
information in the bulletin or newspaper. |
Parish Nursing
Parish
Nursing, also known as Faith Community or Congregational Nursing,
seeks to intentionally integrate the practice of faith with the
practice of nursing. Nurses
who volunteer their time for this ministry do not practice medicine
on site, but help to plan and carry out educational and preventive
activities. |
