We know there are tons of ways to live out our discipleship-in our homes, in our church, in our community and in our world. Below are some of the ways you can be a disciple in action! 

This summer's Discipleship in Action focus is Neighboring.

Keep an eye out for all the ways to serve this summer!


  • Meals on Wheels Ride Along: 
    Wednesdays 10:30-11:30 a.m. Contact, Dorothy Romero at 512-636-5734.

  • Good Neighbor Experiment (GNE): What if loving your actual neighbor could change the world? GNE invites us to reclaim the forgotten practice of neighboring. This opportunity is for anyone, families with children are especially invited to participate as children often do neighboring better than adults.  Visit http://neighboringmovement.org/good-neighbor-experiment/ for more information.

  • Be a Good Neighbor
     • Take a plate of cookies and introduce yourself to your neighbor
     • Spend some time outside and talk to people who run/walk by
     • Say a prayer for the house on your right/left

  • Mission Central
    • Stock the Pantry: Pick up a bag and shopping list at the Welcome Center and see how your family can help. Filled bags can be returned the following Sunday to the Welcome Center.
    Offer to Serve at Mission Central: Numerous opportunities exist and Mission Central, Coat of Many Colors, Village Library and more! Email Catherine Hollis for more information.

  • Serve at the Mobile Food Pantry:  2nd Friday of each month, 8-11 a.m.
    Mobile Food Pantry is an opportunity for families who are food insecure to receive fresh groceries. Opportunities to help include unloading and serving food. For more information email Catherine Hollis

  • Adopt-A-School
     • Participate in the Adopt-A-School Supply Drive in July. CLICK HERE for supply list.
     • Reading with at-risk students.
     • Hurst Jr. High has a waiting list for students who need mentors. Email Rev. Matt Ybanez for more information.

     • Pray for all of our Adopt-A- Schools: Harrison Lane, Bellaire, Hurst Junior High and L.D. Bell H.S
