FUMC Hurst Day School is shaping the future! Our purpose is to provide an exemplary educational program for infants, toddlers and pre-school children in a positive, Christian environment. Qualified and committed staff meet the needs of the whole child by providing learning experiences that encourage the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development of each child.

Developmentally-appropriate curriculum for each age group is taught by two teachers and is designed to build upon skills learned at the previous level. Children are encouraged to explore the world in which they live and, through a variety of activities, pursue the development of all their basic skills—from muscular coordination to language ability. Large motor skill development is especially important for young children. A fenced playground designed for preschoolers is available for all children during their physical education time. An indoor playroom is used on inclement weather days. Music and movement are also part of the classroom curriculum.
To enhance spiritual development, the children participate in a brief chapel time. The chapel service consists of a short lesson, songs, and a prayer.
All teachers receive 15 hours of training and continuing education in early childhood. Teachers in the Four Year Old Pre–K class have teaching certification.
