It is a blessing to have our children involved in missions and it is so inspiring to see the creative and enthusiastic ways they carry out God’s work!
Children at FUMC Hurst are frequently involved in mission activities related to Panama. Children’s Leadership Team set a goal of raising $3,000 for the Children’s Lenten Offering in 2016 to equip and furnish the kitchen of the community center building in Panama. The children at FUMC Hurst exceeded this goal by raising $5,275.00! The children raised the money in many creative ways: they spoke to adult Sunday School classes to share the story of the children in Panama, some hosted a lemonade stand, some hosted a bake sale, and some even asked to do extra chores to earn money! In 2016, Mission Possible Kids spent an afternoon making prayer flags, musical instruments, and personalized cards to send with the adults on the Panama Mission Trip in April 2016.
Thanks to all who helped support this effort! Stay tuned for 2017 Lenten Offering Plans. In the meantime, children can be involved in mission projects through Mission Possible Kids and other opportunities listed below.
Boxes will be distributed by the Hurst Police Department. CLICK HERE to download a printable file of the instructions.
FUMC Hurst has our own chapter of Mission Possible Kids for children in grades K-5. Each month we focus on a special mission project and kids are encouraged to continue doing missions throughout the month. Regular meetings are the 3rd Sunday of Every Month, 4-5 p.m. (extended time in September).
