United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
The UMW of First United Methodist Church of Hurst is concerned with spiritual growth, mission education, Christian social involvement, and local and global support for women, children, and youth. Members are involved through prayer, giving, attending meetings, study, action, and service. UMW of First United Methodist Church has day and evening circles. All circles participate in various mission and church projects, including Adopt-A-Schools and Harvest Festival.
These are a few examples of the local and global ministries that our UMW members share:
Help with "Room at the Inn" sponsored by City Pointe Methodist Church in Richland Hills
Send greeting cards to "at home" members as well as missionaries all over the world
Collect "Boxtops for Education" for Harrison Lane Elementary and participate in conference mission projects benefitting the United Community Centers of Fort Worth
Provide camperships to Glen Rose Camp for FUMC Hurst children
Provide treats for teachers and staff at FUMC Hurst Adopt-a-schools throughout the year
Provide school supplies and shoe vouchers for students enrolled in our adopted schools
Membership is extended to any woman who commits herself to our purpose and chooses to participate in meetings, prayer, study, and service. Church membership is not required. We nurture and encourage one another in our spiritual growth and personal development. Dues are not required, however, members make a financial pledge to support local and global UMW mission programs and projects.
To join FUMC Hurst United Methodist Women, come to a general meeting held the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, or contact Ann Thompson, Membership Nurture and Outreach at 817-798-6328 or email@example.com.
