Dr. Michael McKee, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Government. He also received his Masters of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Texas Wesleyan University.

He is a member of the Central Texas Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and is Chairperson of the following: Fort Worth Mid-Cities District Committee on Ordained Ministry, Board of Texas Methodist Foundation, and the Executive Board of Perkins School of Theology at SMU. He is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees of Southwestern University, and serves on the Board of Harris Methodist Hospital System as the Chairperson of the Pastoral Care Committee. He is also serving as a member of the United Methodist Church General Board of Church and Society.

Dr. McKee served as a 2004 Jurisdictional Conference Delegate and a 2004 Alternate to the General Conference. He is Past-President of the Board of Directors for Women’s Haven of Tarrant County; Past-Chairperson of the Advisory Board and a member of the Steering Committee for the More Than Houses Campaign for Habitat for Humanity, and Past Chair of the Perkins School of Theology Alumni Council.

He and his wife, Joan, have two daughters—Erin lives in Los Angeles and Meredith lives in Dallas.

Mike is beginning his 10th year as the Senior Minister of First United Methodist Church of Hurst after having served other United Methodist congregations in the Fort Worth area. During his time as the pastor, he has provided leadership for a building project that added over 40,000 sq. ft. in education/fellowship space. He has also brought together a talented group of staff members. Together, the staff has promoted Disciple Bible Study as a major Christian formation experience for hundreds of people in the congregation, revitalized and refocused the ministry to children, students and their families, enhanced the music ministry, and extended the mission and outreach of the congregation.
